History

GameCon was founded in 2013 by Dustin Flesher and Carolyn Payne. Dustin was a teacher at Aspen Valley Middle School and Carolyn was a librarian at Rampart High School. Both facilitated after school game clubs, and their idea was to create an inexpensive but highly engaging game convention experience for middle school and high school students in the Pikes Peak region, and that continues to be the vision of GameCon today.

GameCon has partnered with many businesses and institutions over the years, including the Pikes Peak Library District, the Security Public Library, Petrie's Family Games, Gamer's Haven, and J&J Games. GameCon has benefited from the generosity of donors, including Wizards of the Coast, Paizo, and many others.

GameCon has hosted many artists and authors, including the local artist who supplies most of GameCon's poster and t-shirt art, Ben Worrell of Sheath Comics.
Art is an important part of GameCon. We purchase artwork from local artists to advertise our events. Below are some of the posters from past events.

And some custom Magic cards have been distributed as advertisements.
